Learn to engage and inspire students, using innovative teaching methods and technology tools. FCIS is offering a full day of professional development for teachers (K-12), department chairs, and media & curriculum specialists.

Participants earn 5 hours of in-service credit.

CANCELLATION & REFUNDS: All hotel cancellations must be made directly through the hotel and in accordance with hotel policy. Workshop refund requests must be made in writing and emailed to kdanger@fcis.org. There is a $50 processing fee through January 19, 2018, with no refunds after this date.

Computer Science
As 21st century educators, our job is to incorporate logical, critical thinking, and problem solving into our classroom curriculum. Join the Pine Crest Computer Science team for a hands-on experience into the creation, collaboration, and communication in an integrated Computer Science curriculum. This workshop will highlight how Computer Science progresses through grades Pre-Kindergarten through grade 12 with the use of innovative technologies, robotics, and maker activities.

STEAM-Related Academic Competitions and Entrepreneurship
A necessary skill for 21st century students is collaboration. At Pine Crest School, we create opportunities for our students to collaborate, test, and persevere outside of the traditional classroom through competitive academic STEM-related programs, including robotics and the Technology Student Association (TSA). During this session, participants will explore how to create a learning environment in which students are driving inquiry, taking action, and making a difference in areas that desperately need innovative solutions. This session will be invaluable for participants who are passionate about creating relevant learning experiences, building student agency, and connecting the classroom with the world.

Harness the power of technology through video production. In this session, presenters will discuss how teachers and students can create educational newscasts and will share a live student broadcast of the weekly PCTV newscast.
