New Teacher Institute

The New Teacher Institute provides new and “nearly new” faculty members with an opportunity to connect with colleagues and to develop valuable skills and strategies for a successful start to a teaching career in independent schools.
Topics include:

Establishing Professionalism

Finding Mentors

Understanding School Culture

Managing Your Classroom

Planning Lessons

Communicating with Parents

Identifying Teaching and Learning Styles

Setting Goals

Maintaining a Healthy Work/Life Balance

Understanding Legal Issues

The program will begin on Sunday, September 17, at 1:30pm and end on Tuesday, September 19, at 12:00pm.

Registration Cost:
$465 (Members) | $545 (Non-Members)
(includes meals and sessions)

Hotel Room: $111
(plus applicable taxes)
Participants are expected to make their own hotel reservations. Registration fee does not include the price of the guest room. To make a reservation, call the hotel at 800-874-9053, and ask for the FCIS group rate.


Registration and Hotel Deadline:
August 18, 2017
To receive the FCIS group rate at the resort, reservations must be made on or before this date.

Cancellation & Refunds: All hotel cancellations must be made directly through the hotel and in accordance with hotel policy. Workshop refund requests must be made in writing and emailed to kdanger@fcis.org. There is a $50 processing fee through August 11, 2017, with no refunds after this date.
